ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 8,2014...

The day of the engagement was busy. I was preparing for a show, getting my locks styled, and most importantly, trying to ensure no one accidentally leaked the proposal. Early that afternoon, I contacted Aureyl’s mom to ensure her home was still available for the proposal, that food was right, and that I had the correct address for guests. Then, before going to sound-check, I double checked to ensure the ring was tucked in the car. After closing out a heck of a music series (if I say so myself), my dear friend Clink rode with me to Aureyl’s parents’ home, we chopped, then she hid the ring in her purse until it was time. I entered the home, spoke to everyone, waited a minute for a few more people then spoke. I thanked a few key people, including my late father, then…. I turned to Aureyl, thanked her for all she’s been to me and explained how amazing she is and…hit the knee!

In HER words: 

I remember feeling overwhelmed with gratefulness.  it was a beautifully sunny day and i'd concluded my 2nd week of my new career.  stefan had a show, but i had to dance at church to my favorite song, "beautiful Exchange" by hillsong.  i rushed to visit stefan after work briefly, then headed to church.  after dancing, i hurried and got dressed to head to stefan's last summer series show.  At the show, he sang "prototype", a song that has been meaningful to us since high school.  after the show, around midnight , i knew he planned to have an "after party" to celebrate the conclusion of the series at my parents' home (for some random reason).  after the series, i drove to my parents' home.  when i arrived, there were plenty of cars there, including my brother's, which i found odd.  stefan began to thank his parents and others who had been supportive to him.  He then went on to thank me.  After expressing very kind words to/about me, he began to propose.  i immediately began to tear up and accepted his proposal with an "absolutely".  after coming to my senses, i looked up and realized that all of my close friends, even those from out of state had been there and hiding during the proposal.  he really did a great job and it was an amazing night.
